Hey there! I’m Luke Stecklein. I’m a self-taught artist with a special interest in 3D creation and continuously learning how to master myself.
Some facts about me:
- Since 2016, I’ve been learning different forms of digital art. First it was Graphic Design, then 3D Art, and most recently, 2D Art. Through my time spent creating, I’ve come to learn different ways of approaching projects, staying productive, and helping others who are on the same journey.
- I fell in love with 3D Art from the moment I started my introductory class. I spent much of my free time creating, and a year later I competed in state competition for animation. I was also named multiple-time student of the month in the communication technology department of my high school.
- I’m a huge fan of video games. Some of my all time favorites include Outer Wilds, the Ace Attorney series, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and the Super Smash Bros. games.
- My favorite visual aesthetic is the anime style. Any 3D game that uses cel shading and other anime-esc stylization is automatically among my favorite looking games.
- Since playing Outer Wilds, I’ve become fascinated by all things space-related, so much so that I’ve enrolled in college to pursue a degree in Astronomy!
- I’m passionate about authentic creativity. I’m a firm believer that the value of a story is heavily dictated by the care its creator puts into crafting and nurturing it.
My Story
I started learning 3D Art in 10th grade when I took Animation Fundamentals as an elective class. Up until that point, I felt completely lost in what I wanted to do, but as soon as the first class concluded, I was convinced that digital creation was something I loved. I continued learning more about 3D Art and even Graphic Design during that time, planning to continue practicing my craft after graduation.
Life circumstances discouraged me from pursuing post-secondary education, so all of my skills since high school have been self-taught. I’ve taken many courses on targeted areas to refine my knowledge of artistic principles, design concepts, and everything in between. I’ve also been an avid consumer in self help and productivity content to help aid me in acquiring these skills.
From 2020 onward, I’ve been grateful to be involved in many different projects. I’ve made fliers for local events, digital assets for a game called VRChat, and several models for 3D printing. I’ve participated in game jams, worked on independent game projects, and even recently expanded into making content on YouTube.
Having been fortunate enough to be exposed to so many different fields, I’m now excited to share my experiences, and aim to provide something of value along the way. If you’ve spent the time to read through this page, here’s my sincerest thank you!
